A new charger circuit needs a permit from Broomfield’s Building Division. Because Broomfield licenses electricians locally, confirm your installer’s electrician holds a Broomfield license before scheduling.

Xcel customers should charge outside 5–9 pm on weekdays and can ask about Xcel’s EV wiring rebate. United Power members should ask the co-op about its current EV offerings. Switch Together Broomfield also includes optional EV chargers.
Bidirectional backup
In an area prone to severe downslope windstorms, an EV that can power the house is a practical backup. Our bidirectional systems start around $19,000. The federal §30C charger credit ended after June 30, 2026.
