About the roof designer
Where does the roof data come from?
Google’s Solar API, which builds a 3D model of your roof from aerial imagery and simulates a year of sunlight on every section. We draw its best panel positions on the satellite image and price them at our real installed rates.
Is this layout what you’d actually install?
No — it’s one possible layout, chosen for sunlight. The final design is a conversation: many homeowners prefer a single clean rectangle, keeping panels off the street-facing side, or fewer panels that still cover their usage. A real design also leaves fire-code walkways, works around vents, skylights and chimneys, and checks the roof’s condition — so the final count is often a little lower. We confirm everything on a site visit.
Why doesn’t my address work?
Google doesn’t have 3D roof data everywhere yet, especially newer subdivisions and some rural and mountain areas. Send us your address anyway — we can design from satellite imagery and a site visit.
What do you do with my address?
We send it to Google to find your roof and load the satellite image. Nothing is saved to our system unless you choose to send us your design.
