How Power+FLEX works
Holy Cross pays $500 per kW of battery you enroll, up to $12,500, in exchange for letting the co-op draw on your battery under its distribution flexibility tariff. A Powerwall 3 is rated around 11.5 kW of continuous output, so a single unit can earn a large share of the cap; confirm the enrolled kW for your exact equipment with Holy Cross before counting on a figure.
Members who prefer not to give the co-op dispatch access can instead enroll in the time-of-use path, which pays the lesser of $250 per kW or $100 per kWh, capped at $12,500. You keep backup either way — enrolled batteries hold a reserve for outages.
Xcel and Glenwood customers
Rifle and New Castle homes on Xcel can use a battery for the 5–9 pm weekday peak and may qualify for Xcel’s Renewable Battery Connect incentive; verify current terms. Glenwood Springs Electric customers should ask the city about any storage program; we couldn’t confirm one.

Rockslides, snow and wildfire can take down lines in the canyon corridors, and homes up the Crystal River or on the mesas sit at the end of long feeders. We size backup for what you need to keep running — heat, well, fridge, internet — and tell you plainly how long it lasts.
