Renewable credits decide what you can claim
Under common emissions-accounting practice, the right to claim renewable electricity follows the renewable energy credit. If a utility incentive or a third-party owner takes the credits, you may not be able to claim that power as renewable, even though it comes off your roof. Read your incentive and interconnection agreements, or a lease or PPA contract, for credit ownership.

Keep a production meter or monitoring data export, the interconnection agreement, and any credit-ownership language together. A one-page summary of system size, annual production and share of consumption answers most questionnaires.
